What is Array Sensor?
An array sensor (or sensor array) refers to a collection of individual sensors, often arranged in a specific geometric pattern, that work together to gather and process data from their surroundings. Instead of a single sensor providing a limited point of data, an array sensor offers a more comprehensive and robust sensing capability.
How Array Sensors Work?
The specific working mechanism depends heavily on the type of sensor and its application, but common principles include:
- Data Acquisition: Each individual sensor in the array collects its specific data (e.g., light intensity, sound pressure, chemical concentration, temperature).
- Signal Conditioning: The raw signals from each sensor are typically processed (amplified, filtered, digitized) to prepare them for further analysis.
- Array Signal Processing: This is where the “magic” of array sensors happens. Sophisticated algorithms are used to combine and analyze the data from all sensors. This can involve:
- Phase comparison: For determining direction, the time difference (and thus phase difference) of a signal arriving at different sensors is analyzed.
- Summation/Averaging: Combining signals coherently to enhance the desired signal and reduce random noise.
- Pattern Recognition: In applications like “electronic noses” or “electronic tongues,” the unique pattern of responses across different chemical sensors is used to identify complex mixtures or substances.
- Tomography: Reconstructing a 2D or 3D image of an object or environment by analyzing signals that pass through or reflect off it.
Array Sensors Products

Insole Sensor
An insole sensor is a type of wearable sensor system integrated into a shoe insole to measure and analyze various biomechanical and physiological data related to foot pressure, movement, and gait.

Sensor Pad
A sensor pad is a flat, typically thin, and often flexible device that contains one or more sensors embedded within it. Its primary function is to detect a specific type of physical change, most commonly pressure or movement, over a defined area.

Mattress Sensor
A mattress sensor is a device designed to be placed on, under, or integrated within a mattress to monitor various aspects of a person’s presence, movement, and physiological signals while they are in bed.
